Located in Fort Smith, the Medical Clinic LPN reports to the Regional Supervisor, Primary Health Care. The position provides culturally sensitive care during approximately 1000
patient encounters per month and is accountable for reviewing and prioritizing patient needs, acting as a resource to the practitioners and conducting timely and efficient patient
assessments to ensure effective use of resources. The position provides functional direction in the day to day operations of the medical clinic, is responsible for inventory
management, policy and procedure review, and records management including but not limited to monitoring of INR clients, faxing of client information, appropriate
documentation, and coordination of audits.
The Medical Clinic LPN is a member of the nursing team who provides direct nursing care to patients both before and after procedures being performed in the Medical Clinic and
acts as a patient advocate, facilitating communication between the patient, family and physicians and other health care professionals. This will result in a holistic approach to
planning, organizing, teaching, and relationship development that will best meet the needs of the patient. The Medical Clinic LPN will participate in and assist the Physicians with
minor medical procedures within the Clinic (i.e. biopsies, excisions, suture removal, cryotherapy, dressing changes, eye washing, ear syringing, spirometry, etc.). The incumbent
works collaboratively with Public Health and Homecare on such things as STD contact tracing, and treatment.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
Licensed Practical Nursing Program, including Medication administration and participation in continuing education as it pertains to the profession.
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary model, 2 years’ experience in areas such as acute care/hospital setting, public health, medical office/family practice is an asset.
This job opening is for a one (1) year term.
Eligible for current registration with the Department of Health & Social Services is mandatory for this position.

The salary for this position starts at $37.27 per hour (approximately $72,676 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $6,180.
