About the Job
The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.
The incumbent reports to the Manager Application Development and implements and maintains application development, release management, change management, and quality assurance, standards, documentation, processes and tools used by the Application Development team to support and maintain department technology systems. The incumbent works directly with ECE IS Business Analyst/Project Managers, vendors, and third-party developers to oversee the systems design, development, testing, and implementation of all ECE's technology systems. The incumbent actively participates in ongoing production support and maintains existing applications, works with production support analysts to ensure speedy recovery of production incidents, develops a deep and thorough understanding of the production infrastructure, makes proactive recommendations for overall system improvement initiatives, and leads modernization initiatives.
The PRE division is composed of 3 units:
1. Research and Program Evaluation Services
2. Information Management Services
3. ATIPP and Records Management
Typically attained by:
- These knowledge skills and abilities may typically be attained through a university degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, or software engineering and 6 years related work experience as a senior resource leading application development teams. A combination of 10 years education and directly related experience would be considered as an equivalency.
