About the Job
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) works through wide-ranging partnerships and initiatives to deliver quality programs and services that promote and support economic development, diversification and prosperity in the interest of Northwest Territories residents – their businesses and communities.
This position has a direct impact on how the department is perceived as a tourism and recreation destination by tourists and residents. The successful application of the responsibilities in this position results in an efficient and secure park operation whereby parks user needs are met.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Experience in operating small watercraft and motorized vehicles such as ATV's and snowmobiles
•Knowledge of the NWT Parks Act and Regulations
•Ability to develop and deliver an interpretive program
•Ability and confidence to speak publicly and to contain ones composure during situations where park users are abusive and/or accusatory
Typically , the above qualifications would be attained by:
The incumbent should possess a Class 5 driver's license and a mature post-secondary student with good writing and communication skills. An equivalency would involve having a Class 5 drivers license and previous working experience as a travel counselor and/or heritage interpreter for two or more years
This job opening is for a seasonal position from approximately May to September each year.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Driver's License Requirement
A mandatory requirement for this position is a valid Class 5 Driver's License
The salary for this position starts at $37.27 per hour (approximately $72,677. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance
Eligibility lists may be created from this competition to fill future term and indeterminate positions.
