About the Job
Located in the Inuvik Regional Hospital Medical Clinic and reporting to the Regional Manager, Primary Care, the obstetrics NP is an autonomous practitioner who provides comprehensive health assessment, makes diagnoses and develops interventions within the nurse practitioner’s scope of practice. The Obstetrics NP will collaborate with the team of physicians and nurses at the Inuvik Regional Hospital who deliver obstetrical care, as well as the community Health Centres to provide primary care to individuals and families.
The obstetrics NP will be requested at times to be involved with prenatal and postnatal workshops and assessments. The Obstetrics NP will provide clinical nursing leadership as an educator, leader, researcher and advanced clinical practitioner with an obstetrical area of expertise within the primary community care regional team by collaborating with Community Health Centres to increase the capacity for obstetrical care delivery.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Nursing – OBSTETRICS NP Stream successful completion of the Canadian Nurse Practitioner Exam. At least two years of recent nursing experience, including provision of obstetrical care Registration as an OBSTETRICS NP with the register of RNANT/NU. CAN Perinatal certification.

Eligible for current registration/certification with Registered Nurses Association of Northwest Territories and Nunavut is mandatory for this position.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary for this position starts at $53.65 per hour plus Northern Allowance.
