Job Information

The Regional Program Head, Akaitcho and South Slave, is establishing an inventory of skilled individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to teach a range of courses at the adult upgrading level.  These courses include Basic & Intermediate Computer courses, Pre-Trades Math and Science, English (literacy) and Math (numeracy).  Courses may also include 6-week long Literacy & Essential Skills courses.

Reporting to the Regional Program Head, Akaitcho and South Slave, the Instructor's primary responsibilities are to prepare for and deliver short courses in smaller communities in the Akaitcho and South Slave Region.  Curriculum and teaching resources will be provided for the instruction of these courses.  The instructor will be responsible for delivering these courses in a manner that best supports student success.

The Instructor will work closely with the Regional Program Head and members of the community to ensure quality instruction that meets community needs.

The knowledge, skills and abilities required for these positions are normally acquired through the completion of Bachelor of Education degree combined with adult education certification or two years' direct experience teaching adults, or through the completion of a Master's degree in adult education.

This job opening is for casual employment opportunities within the Community Learning Centres of Aurora College in the Akaitcho and South Slave Regions within the communities of Lutsel K'e, Ndilo, Fort Resolution, Hay River and Hay River Reserve.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $49.02 per hour plus an hourly Northern Allowance dependant on the community.  (Hay River & Reserve $2.67/hr; Lutsel K'e $8.97/hr; Fort Resolution $4.90/hr; Ndilo $1.77/hr.
