About the Job
This position reports to the Clinic Manager and is responsible for managing the document management, data quality, decision support and privacy/security of information collected, used and stored. The incumbent is responsible for the interpretation and application of legislation, regulations and document management practices. The incumbent provides technical information and privacy guidance and consultation to the seven community health centers within the Authority, Public Health, Home Care and Social Services.
This position manages and ensures compliance with the collection, documentation and data reporting meeting deadlines established by CIHI, the GNWT DHSS and the Beaufort Delta Region Senior Management team. The impact and outcome of the activities of this position protect the organization against legal action as well as protect the patient with respect to continuity of care and privacy. A high level of experience and integrity is necessary to lead and guide the organization in the establishment of private and secure document management practices.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A combination of knowledge, skills and abilities is most commonly acquired through a university degree in Information Management, Health Informatics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five (5) years progressively responsible health information experience including a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in a hospital/health care information environment is required.
Certification with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and member in good standing.
Eligible to join the Canadian Health Informatics Association (COACH).
The successful candidate will be required to obtain proof of current up-to-date immunization status.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary for this position starts at $40.85 per hour (approximately $79,657. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance.
