Department Information

The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies.  INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information

Located in Yellowknife and reporting to the Manager, Corporate Electronic Information Management (EIM), the incumbent is a member of the Corporate EIM team.

This is a pivotal position in the development, promotion, implementation, and maintenance of Digital Intergrated Information Management System throughout the GNWT including the development of procedures, standards, and guidelines. The incumbent must ensure that the GNWT's recorded information is managed efficiently and effectively according to relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and accepted records management practices.

Recorded information management is a dynamic and evolving field. This position must address the complex and challenging issues raised by the growth of electronic records, email messages, and emerging information technologies. The DIIMS Specialist contributes both technical expertise and knowledge in addressing the GNWT's electronic information management needs through the overall maintenance of both government-wide and departmental information management strategies, standards, and systems.

The DIIMS Specialist position is responsible for training Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) employees on all facets of Digital Integrated Information Management System(DIIMS). In addition, the position is responsible for operating the DIIMS Help Desk and participating as a technical expert on DIIMS project teams.

This is a key position to the ongoing implementation of DIIMS across the GNWT. The incumbent requires technical expertise and knowledge that bridges multiple disciplines information technology, information systems, content management, and records management.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

  • Degree in Information Management, Information Technology or Records Management;
  • Five (5) years of directly related experience focused on systems development and implementation of electronic records management systems, document management systems and the management of recorded information; and,
  • Experience in training course develop and delivery and operating a Help Desk.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $44.75 per hour to $53.44 per hour (approximately $87,263 to $104,208.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
