Job Information

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is one of a team of LPNs who are responsible for providing nursing care within their scope of practice to clients of the Primary Health Care Clinic in Yellowknife.

The Primary Health Clinic with two sites in Yellowknife includes a number of multi-disciplinary health care practitioners providing comprehensive patient assessment, coordinated intervention/plans of care, case management of complex high need clients, personalized teaching and client follow-up.  The clinic provides services to the population of Yellowknife plus a significant transient population from other regions of the NWT, Nunavut and the mine sites.  Approximately 90,000 client appointments will be attended per year. 

Reporting to a Clinic Manager and as a member of the primary health care team the LPN assesses, implements and evaluates patient care.  The LPN acts as a liason between clients and practitioners. 

Acts as the liason for clients consulting with a variety of practitioners while collaborating and functioning as part of the primary health care team.  Provides direct nursing care, including before and after procedures being performed in the clinic.  Facilitates, implements and modifies client and family education based on the needs of the client.  Maintains medical equipment and supplies.

Typically the above qualifications would be attained by:

Must hold a current NWT license as a LPN; plus two years' experience within a full scope of practice including administering medications.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $37.27per hour to $44.50 per hour (approximately $72,677.00 - $86,775.00.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.00.
