The NWT Bureau of Statistics requires interviewers to conduct the 2018 NWT Addictions Survey.

The Addictions survey collects information on NWT residents’ use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. The information obtained from the survey will be used to help develop programs and services aimed at preventing the abuse of alcohol and other drugs in the NWT.

Duties include conducting survey interviews in person in various communities across the NWT, maintaining accurate records of survey operation and working with the Survey Manager to ensure the overall completion of the project. Afternoon, evening and weekend work is required. A demonstrated ability to work with the public is required, and previous experience with statistical surveys and a valid driver’s license would be an asset.  Interviewers will be required to walk and stand for extended periods in the course of a day.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Maintain accurate records of survey operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.  
  • Aware of the importance of confidentiality and ability to keep information collected private and confidential at all times.
  • Comfortable working on a tablet, navigating websites and sending emails.
  • Must be able to travel, however part-time hours may be available in some communities.

Salary Information 

Community Interviewers

Salary starts at $26.37 per hour, plus Northern Allowance applicable to the community of hire.
