About the Job

Job Information

The Tlicho Language and Culture Instructor is responsible for teaching Tlicho Yati and reporting student progress back to families, implementing Tlicho cultural activities to students across grades JK-10, and other activities as directed by the school principal

The ideal applicant will be an educator who is fluent in the Tlicho language, culture, and way of life. He/She will have a strong commitment to community, students, and indigenous learning environments. Balanced literacy, self-regulation and play-based inquiry are expectations for the learning model. Flexibility, organizational, and interpersonal skills are also required.

Eligible candidates must hold a Grade 12 Diploma and an NWT Aboriginal Language Specialist certification or higher. A job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal record check

Incumbents who demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the aboriginal languages of the Northwest Territories receive an annual allowance of approximately $5,949 per annum.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is approximately $63,332- $78,782. plus an annual Northern Allowance of $15,088.


Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
