Job Information

Deh Gah Elementary and Secondary School in Fort Providence offers a diverse range of programs to 145 students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade twelve.  The school has very close ties to its community and a strong on-the-land program.  An immersion language program is offered to students in JK to Grade three.

Available Position:                         High School Math Teacher 

                                                (Indeterminate 2017/18)

The Math Teacher will be a team player teaching secondary Math courses and may provide in-school support for teachers with respect to math programming for all students under the guidelines of Inclusive Schooling.  The successful math teacher should have a repertoire of instructional, assessment, and behavioural techniques to help meet the diverse needs of all students.


Must hold, or be eligible for a N.W.T Professional Teaching Certificate;

Must have education, training and/or experience in assessment of numeracy and flexible instructional strategies;

Must have understanding of the inclusionary policies in the NWT;

Should have experience teaching ELA &/or have training at the secondary level as a ELA  teacher;

Should have direct experience with NWT/Alberta curricula;

Should demonstrate ability to plan and provide programs and support that reflect inclusion in multi-level classrooms;

Should have training and experience in a cross –cultural, classroom situation;

Should promote the involvement of parents  in a positive and supportive manner.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.


Salary Information

Salary is pro-rated dependent on verified education and experience (ranging from $78,600 to $126,897 per annum) plus an annual pro-rated Northern Allowance based on the NWTTA Collective Agreement.
