The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority –Stanton Territorial Hospital (NTHSSA) is offering challenging Patient Care Coodinators and work life balance. Join our health care team as a Patient Care Coordinator. Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) is a 100 in-patient bed accredited facility, located in Yellowknife Northwest Territories (NWT). STH is the referral center for approximately 43,000 NWT residents and 5,900 residents from the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. STH provides health care services to adults and children on an inpatient/outpatient and outreach basis in order to restore health with dignity. STH maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property, recognizing the health hazards associated with tobacco in the workplace, both to smokers and non-smokers alike. Therefore, Stanton maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property.
The Relief Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) is responsible for managing all hospital functions within Stanton after regular business hours. The Relief PCC is a member of the client care team who uses the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation), in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and the philosophy and objectives of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) to ensure that the patients’ physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual and educational needs are met.
Located within Stanton the Relief PCC is one of 5 PCC’s working 12 hours shifts on a rotating basis so as to provide 24/7 leadership in the operations of the hospital. The incumbent performs risk management and assumes responsibility for the hospital building, the occupants and the working employees outside of normal hours of operation.
As a representative of management, the Relief PCC coordinates and directs all activities and responds to internal incidents or crises and to inquiries from the media, public and other stakeholders. The Relief PCC is required to provide, facilitate and direct the implementation of specialized nursing functions and transfer of laboratory, medical and other functions/duties in the presence or absence of a physician (i.e. during a Code Blue the incumbent will direct patient care based on established protocols).
The incumbent monitors the delivery of patient care throughout the entire Hospital. Patients range from stable to critically ill, experiencing medical disorders or disease states where the outcomes can be either predictable or unpredictable.

This level of knowledge is commonly acquired through the successful completion of a Nursing Degree, completion of a Certificate in Critical Care Nursing, and 3 years recent nursing experience in an acute or critical care area with some experience in a supervisory capacity. Equivalencies will be considered.
This job opening is for a Relief position where there are no established hours of work on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and may be required to report to work on an as and when required basis for facilities where services operate on a daily basis throughout the entire year.
Eligible for current registration/certification with Registration Nurses Association of Northwest Territories and Nunavut is mandatory for this position.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary for this position starts at $44.75 per hour (approximately $87,263. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
