The THSSA works under the direction of the Minister of Health and Social Services, in partnership with the Deputy Minister, Health and Social Services and the Health and Social Services regions, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the Northwest Territories through planning, development, deliver, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.

Job Information

Located in Headquarters, the Project Manager position will report to the Senior Project Manager, Corporate and Support Services and be accountable to them, as well as be accountable to other Senior Project Manager(s), Project Sponsor(s)/Lead(s) and/or HSSA Director(s) or Manager(s) they may be assigned to support. The position will need to work in often a complex matrix environment and consequently will also often work closely with Departmental Senior Managers and Senior Managers of the THSSA.

 The Project Manager will coordinate and manage medium sized projects that play an active part in ensuring the development and success of THSSA strategic objectives.

 The Project Manager applies project management methodology, including but not limited to: project planning, risk management and contingency planning, communication, monitoring and project and program evaluation techniques to ensure that project implementation is done efficiently and effectively and the outcomes meet all project requirements.  The position is also accountable for overseeing and managing the work of any consultants/experts engaged by the NTHSSA to assist in the analysis and development of projects.

 The knowledge and skills for this position are normally obtained through a bachelor’s degree in business administration, science, engineering or public administration and four (4) years of progressive project management or managerial experience with advanced training in strategic planning and project management.  The four (4) years of progressive experience will include a minimum of two (2) years of experience managing medium to large complex projects in a Canadian Health and Social Services or Northern work environment.  Other combinations of education and related GNWT/Northern experience will be considered.

Term Position

This is an anticipatory hiring for upcoming term opportunities.  Term positions may vary from 6 months to 3 years depending on the nature of the project.  Term positions could be assigned to project teams working for the Territorial Health and Social Services Authority (THSSA) Headquarters within the Corporate and Support Services Division.

Equivalencies

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

 

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $49.02 per hour to $58.53 per hour (approximately $95,589 - $114,134.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450
