Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator in the Norman Wells office (32-3442), this position assists in the delivery of plumbing/oil burner mechanic services and preventive maintenance for GNWT-owned and operated buildings In the region to ensure GNWT owned and operated building environments are safe. This position assists in the maintenance of plumbing and heating equipment to GNWT buildings to ensure safe and efficient operationthrough testing and Installation of replacements of equipment on boilers, furnaces and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.This position assists In the review of work completed by contractors to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and governing codes. All work is performed under the direction of a qualified Journeyman Plumber/OBM.
KNOWLEDGE.SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Class 5 Driver's License.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability and willingness to keep up-to-date with technology.
- Ability to use a computer.
- Ability to attend Trade Instruction Courses in Fort Smith or Alberta for at least one 8 week period each year.
- Successfulcompletion of a Trades Entrance exam.
Typically. the above qualifications would be attained by:
Completion of English 10, Math 10 or 13, Pure math 10 or Applied Math 10, Science Grade 10 ORthe equivalent. Related experience is an asset. Continued employment as an apprentice Is conditional upon the successful completion of the required hours of experience, coursework and exam for each level in the apprenticeship program.

Driver's License Requirement
A mandatory requirement for this position is a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary for this position starts at $22.36 per hour (approximately $46,508.80 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance.
