About the Job
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) works in partnership with others to provide quality programs and services that promote and support Northwest Territories economic prosperity and community self-reliance.
Reporting to the Coordinator, Parks & Regional Facilities, the Parks Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring that Park facilities are maintained in a safe operational condition by inspecting, reporting and performing regular or corrective maintenance duties. This position also assists in the provision of contractor supervision, information services and compliance duties in support of the Parks Program. Minor capital projects will be undertaken by this position as directed by the Coordinator, Parks & Regional Facilities. This position is located in Hay River but spends the majority of time at one of 17 Parks & Tourism facilities in the South Slave Region.
Typically the required knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job would be acquired through certification as a Journeyman Carpenter with 4 years of directly related construction experience as a journeyman along with supervision experience of unskilled labourers in remote job sites. Experience working in a cross-cultural environment plus outdoor survival training would be an asset.
This job opening is for a seasonal position from approximately May to September each year.
Driver's License Requirement
A mandatory requirement for this position is a valid Class 5 Driver's License
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary for this position starts at $34.67 per hour plus an annual prorated Northern Allowance of $5,792.
