About the Job
Through the Graduate Internship Program (GIP), departments recruit qualified, post-secondary Northern graduates into positions in a line of work related to their field of study. Interns receive valuable work experience and have the opportunity to apply their theoretical and academic knowledge in a practical, real world context and gain exposure to the GNWT as an employer.
How to Apply to the Program
Submit your cover letter and a current copy of your resume through the Graduate Internship Program posting listed on our Current Openings page.
For applicants who meet the eligibility criteria, an email will be sent indicating that you have been registered in the Graduate Internship Program. Registered applicants become candidates for Internships, and are retained on file for one year from the date of approval.
If a potential internship match to your education and experience is found, you will be contacted for an interview by the hiring department. As with all staffing in the GNWT, the Affirmative Action Policy is applied in staffing internship positions.
The salary for the Graduate Internship Program is dependent on duties assigned.
Criminal Records Check
Employment in some positions requires an acceptable criminal records check. Possession of a criminal record will not necessarily disqualify candidates from further consideration.
Candidates must clearly identify their eligibility in order to receive priority consideration under the Affirmative Action Policy.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Government of the Northwest Territories is an inclusive workplace. If you have a disability and you require support during the hiring process, you are encouraged to identify your needs if you are contacted for an assignment or interview so that you may be accommodated during the hiring process.
